About Madden Consulting

David Madden is a Commerce Graduate from UCC and he subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, Cork in 1991.

David has 20 years experience in the retail industry having been the managing director of a successful consumer electronics business which employed 40 people in five locations around Cork City and County.  David is also the managing director of a successful consumer finance business.

Madden Consulting was established by David in 2008 when he saw that there was a lack of practical resources available to help business owners. His primary focus is on working with the owners and key team members of small and medium sized businesses. David has a practical approach to developing business and in helping owners to tease out blockages which hinder their business progress. Having first established the vision and the core values of his clients, David assists them in implementing a strategy that is supportive of this vision. With 20 years experience of managing both a business and a team, David is passionate about helping people implement processes that are focused on growth and on moving their business forward. David empathises with business owners and has a well of experience from which to draw, in mentoring business owners to arrive at their own solutions.

David specialises in working with Family Businesses and has a critical understanding of the dynamics and personalities involved in family business units.   David has extensive experience in Sales & Marketing, Business Re-branding, Personnel Management & Recruitment, and Business & Financial Planning.  He is an experienced business Mentor and can assist in Business Mediation.

As well as being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, David is an accredited business coach. He is a past Chairman of Radius, a UK Buying Group with a turnover in excess of £300 million. In addition to running his own successful business, David has guest-lectured and delivered presentations to the Irish Management Institute (IMI), Plato Cork, Family Business Ireland, the Beacon Initiative Towns Mentoring programme, EERA (Irish Electrical Retailers) and Panasonic Ireland. David has also served as a Director on the Board of Cork Simon.

David also works as a Consultant Finance Director with the FD Centre who hire out part-time Financial Directors to organisations who don't want, don't need or can't afford an FD on a full-time basis but recognise that they need the service from time to time or for particular assignments as they arise.
